Oh, no! This is all wrong! It's really Ukrainians working for Democrats. Honest, I heard that from several Members of Congress, and who knows more than those guys?

When left wing media couldn't explain why some of the probable Russian hacking was in support of Democrats as well as Republicans, they made up the idea of "sowing discord" or getting Americans against other Americans. What left wing didn't consider was that they themselves have been sowing discord and getting Americans against other Americans on a daily, if not hourly, basis in this country for many years.

They couldn't explain it because it wasn't true, lol! Not even Trump claims the Russians were out to help the Dems. Instead, he blames the Ukrainians, though falsely. You need to fix your GOP Talking Points Decoder; you're missing the storyline they're pushing. Democrats are "sowing discord"? Honestly, which President has claimed that any opposition to him is "treason"? Which has accused foreign-born US citizens of being "rapists and murderers"? Which has popularized the idea of "locking up" his political opponents? Which routinely calls fellow Americans "scum" and worse? Which constantly talks about "us against them"? I can think of only one. And he's an outgrowth of decades during with the GOP has had an explicit strategy of "divide and conquer", exemplified by operatives such as Lee Atwater, who actually apologized for some of this actions on his deathbed. link Atwater was following a playbook first road-tested by Barry Goldwater in 1964, and fully embraced by the GOP in 1968: the Southern Strategy. It's initial purpose was to divide Americans by race, but it eventually grew to include other social wedge issues that could win over white Southern (and to a lesser extend Midwestern and Mountain States) voters. link
