Two major political events coming up on Tuesday:
*Members of the 5-Star Movement in Italy will be able to vote on whether their parliamentary party should join a new coalition government with the center-left Democratic Party. If they vote no, the Government will collapse, and new elections will have to be called, which could lead to a far-right, anti-EU successor.
*British opposition and backbench Tory MPs will try to take control over the House of Commons agenda to push through a bill requiring the Government to seek another 3-month extension to Brexit, and prohibiting it from leaving without a deal. A loss by the Government will set the table for a possible election on October 14, just over 2 weeks before the current exit date.
So, it's a big day, and wouldn't you know it, I have to be away from most communications until well into nighttime across the Atlantic. *sigh*

Well, Tuesday went pretty well. First, Boris Johnson successfully managed to chase out another Tory Member literally across the aisle to the Lib-Dems, Jacob Rees-Mogg actually lounged on the front bench during debate, and then the House defeated the Government, with 21 Tories defecting, to take up a bill requiring the Government to ask for a further delay until January 31. Today, those 27 have been purged out of the party becoming what one calls "involuntary independents". Later today the House will enact the bill, which the Prime Minister has suggested he may ignore while Parliament is out of session for five weeks.
Second, in Italy supporters of the 5-Star Movement voted by 80 percent to approve their party's participation in a coalition government with the Democratic Party. Good news.

Former Tory MP Philip Lee enters the House with Lib-Dems interrupting Boris's speech on the G-7 meetings. By the time Boris finished about half his own Tory Members already had left, a rare show of disrespect for a PM.
